5 Traits of Successful Entrepreneurs

Successful entrepreneurs

Let me start by saying no two entrepreneurs are the same. Everyone has their own methodologies, values, and motivations that drive them on their journey to create something unique. Many successful entrepreneurs do, however, display a similar set of characteristics that help advance them towards their destination. These traits tend to be the difference between entrepreneurs and wantrepreneurs. Let’s break down the traits of successful entrepreneurs.

Curiosity

This is where every entrepreneurial journey begins. Entrepreneurs are typically people who are curious about something and eager to learn more. Without a true sense of curiosity, wanna-be entrepreneurs never have the motivation to make progress. Successful entrepreneurs aren’t only curious during the foundation stage of their enterprise, but along every step of the journey. Problems will arise and new solutions will need to be sought out. Keeping a strong sense of curiosity will help you as an entrepreneur to find unique and reasonable solutions to problems.

Strategic Thinking

Entrepreneurs have a unique ability to layout a creative, strategic framework approach to solving a problem. They are able to predict when and where things might go awry and plan for every possible outcome in those situations. Entrepreneurs who are able to think strategically are more likely to get their business off the ground while those who aren’t strategic tend to sink in the sand.

Adaptability

As strategically as an entrepreneur might be able to think and plan, there’s always something waiting to fly out of left field and knock them on their butt. This has unfortunately happened to me hundreds of times but I dust myself off and get back at it. An adaptable, flexible, changeable entrepreneur will be able to seek out multiple solutions at the same time and find the best fit for that specific situation. This might even involve pivoting when necessary. An entrepreneur who isn’t adaptable will continue doing things the same when situations arise, leading to their downfall.

Vulnerability

Whether they know it or not, vulnerability motivates every single successful entrepreneur in the world. Uncertainty, emotional exposure, risk… It’s all the same. Successful entrepreneurs need the extra push of knowing that things might not all be okay to make sure their processes improve and their growth continues. Wantrepreneurs with no vulnerability will not experience the same motivation, which can greatly damage the growth of their business.

Giving Feedback

Finally, to ensure the growth and development of the people surrounding them, entrepreneurs need to be able to give strong and honest feedback. The employees of an entrepreneur are there to support them in every step of the journey. For them to effectively do so, they need to hear where they are doing well, and where they can improve. Entrepreneurs who fail to deliver honest feedback to their employees aren’t likely to see much growth from them. This can lead to constantly needing to fire and rehire positions. Invest in the growth of those around you by delivering strong, clear, and honest feedback on a regular basis.

I’d love to hear from you on what traits you think contribute to successful entrepreneurs!
